Permissions
iOS asks before the app can use your location, Photos or Apple Health. You can review or change each permission at any time in the iOS Settings app, under Quantified Map. Tracking in the background needs location access set to “Always”.
Frequently asked questions
Does Quantified Map need Strava or Swarm?
No. You can use the app's own tracking, or import GPX files or a Moves backup. Strava, Swarm and Apple Health are optional sources.
Where is my data stored?
On your iPhone or iPad, in the app's private storage, with no account. To name places, the app sends coordinates to Apple Maps, and to Foursquare only if you turn that option on. The privacy policy has the details.
How do I start tracking?
In the app's Settings, turn on tracking and allow location access “Always”, so places are recorded in the background. You can pause tracking for a while or turn it off at any time.
Can I import my Moves backup?
Yes. In Settings, choose the Moves import and select your Moves export. GPX files can be imported the same way.
Can I export a map?
Yes. Any day, week, month or custom-period map can be exported as an image. Routes can also be exported as GPX.
How do I back up my history or move it to a new device?
Use Settings → Personal Backup to create a backup encrypted with a password you choose, then restore it on the new device. Keep the password: it cannot be recovered.
How do I delete my data?
There is no “delete all data” option in the app yet. Deleting the app deletes all the data it stored on your device. To stop access to connected services, disconnect Strava and Swarm in Settings first.
Which devices are supported?
iPhone and iPad with iOS 26 or later. The app is available in English, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Simplified Chinese and Traditional Chinese.
Reporting a problem
Include your device model, iOS version and app version, and the steps that caused the problem. A screenshot of the interface can help; hide location history, health information, personal notes and sign-in details before sharing. In the app, Settings → Contact Me opens an email with a few useful app settings filled in.
